Breakfast at JW Marriott Sahar – Review

A day that starts well, ends well they say. For the foodies like us, what could be a better way to begin the day than a hearty breakfast! Well, we do confess that there have been times when we have just missed out on our breakfast – all thanks to our busy lifestyles. And if you belong to this category of people, then you are missing out on a visit to deliciousness we call the JW Marriott Sahar, for their breakfast menu.

On our visit to the JW Cafe, the new breakfast menu enchanted us with choices. Now, we do love the Sunday Brunch that JW Marriott Juhu offers but then could we expect the same from Sahar on a regular day? On exploring the different corners of the cafe, we came across a widespread of foodstuff consisting of assorted delicacies. The cafe opens up for the guests from 6:30 am to 11:00 am. Now that’s a relief considering the fact that we scout for early morning breakfast areas and hardly find any worth it.

Once seated, post our exploration, the major question which then followed was what should we start with. Now then considering JW is a place where most foreigners love to stay, the menu was a melange of Indian and English breakfast options. As the chef mentioned, Indians come here to try the English breakfast while the travellers from abroad love to try the Indian food. So going by the recommendation, we began our meal with the Masala Eggs Benedict which is their take on the classic Eggs Benedict. Unlike the original version, the Masala Eggs Benedict here does not have the Hollandaise sauce. With onions, tomatoes and Indian flavours to spice up the dish, it is something that one should absolutely not miss out on.

If you aren’t a fan of the Benedict, then the plattered consisted of Chicken Sausages, Pork Sausages and Bacon for the non-vegetarians while the vegetarians could savour Baked Beans, Hash Brown and Grilled Tomato.

Soup is another choice here. Not a preferred choice for breakfast but the Noodle Soup Station still could be a good option for an early brunch.

The South Indian section had everything to offer. Right from the Idlis, Vadas, Dosas to the Sevaya, Upma and a lot more!

Masala Dosa

But the next dish to charm us however was the Mysore Masala Dosa. When the chef strongly recommended this dish, we did wonder how different could it be from the ones we have had everywhere else. But one will notice the striking difference only after experiencing it. Unlike other places, this one has fresh tomatoes and chopped onions stuffed in complemented by the stunning chutneys that add on to the rich, fresh flavours as well a different texture altogether. Make sure you fill up your plate with this one while you’re taking a stroll around the buffet options.

Malabari Paratha with Kheema

Next up was the Paratha counter where we encountered the most delicious dish on the menu – the Malabari Paratha that we thoroughly enjoyed with the Mutter KheemaThe kheema had a smooth silky texture that just melted in our mouth. When paired with the Malabari Paratha, the experience is just divine. A MUST TRY IN THIS MENU!

Mutton Kheema

Ofcourse, this counter offered more than just Malabari Paratha. You could opt for a plain, Aloo, Paneer Paratha, served with dahi and acchar or simply opt for Chole Bathure.

Easing our way out to the next counter, something that caught our attention was a board that said Mumbai’s Best Waffles! Trust us when we say it, the waffles here are indeed undoubtedly the best in Mumbai. The cotton soft texture, and the perfect balance of sweetness is something to die for. So delicious that you would probably not feel the need to compliment it with any fresh cream, or blueberry sauce. Have it just by itself and you’ll be high on it for sure.

Mumbai's Best Waffle

Finally the bakery section had a few highlights of its own. The section offers a lot but if you are going to get stuck in the spell of the Waffles, you might not make it this far. But in case you do manage to reach here make sure you try the Danish and the Chocolate Chip Muffins.
